When you need it

A Brainboxes device that gets no DHCP lease within 60 seconds uses its fallback address, 192.168.127.254 (the ED-51604 uses 192.168.1.10), until it is next power-cycled. That address is usually not on your network, so the device answers discovery but nothing else reaches it. A host route on the adapter the device is plugged into fixes that without changing your computer's own address.

The desktop app offers the same route with one click when it hears such a device - see Reach a Brainboxes device on its fallback IP address. Use these commands on a headless machine, or when you prefer a terminal.

Both subcommands change the routing table, so run them from an elevated prompt: sudo on macOS and Linux, an Administrator prompt on Windows. The route lasts until the computer restarts.
