The main variances of the black terminal blocks

Why do my terminal blocks look different?

You may notice that the black, pluggable terminal blocks supplied with Brainboxes products aren't all marked in the same way. Depending on which products you've ordered and when, the terminal blocks may be:

Numbered — each connection is printed with a number.

Symbolled — each connection is printed with a symbol.

Blank — no printing on the connections.

This makes no difference to how your product works. All three versions are mechanically and electrically identical. The only difference is the printed marking on the block.

The function of each terminal is fixed by the product itself (the position of each connection in the socket), not by anything printed, or not printed, on the removable block. A given terminal does exactly the same job whichever style of block is fitted.

Always wire to the pinout for your specific product. You'll find the pinout on the product's web page and in its manual, as well as here in the Pinouts section. Counting the terminal positions in the order shown in the pinout gives you the correct connections every time, regardless of the block's markings.

Why does the marking vary?

We originally supplied numbered terminal blocks, then moved to bespoke symbolled blocks to make wiring clearer at a glance. More recently, short-term supply constraints on the symbolled version have meant we're temporarily fitting blank blocks while availability is restored.

Because of this, if you order more than one product, or reorder over time, you may receive a mix of numbered, symbolled and blank blocks. This is expected, and they are all fully interchangeable in function.
