Installation Instructions
This section provides step-by-step installation instructions for Brainboxes Serial Solutions cards across different Windows operating systems.
Before You Begin
- Power off your computer before inserting a PCI, PCIe, or PCMCIA card
- Have the Serial Solutions CD ready, or download the latest drivers from the Brainboxes website
- Ensure you have administrator privileges on the system
Installation Guides by Operating System
Select your operating system for detailed installation instructions:
- Windows XP / Server 2003 - Legacy installation with New Found Hardware Wizard
- Windows Vista / Server 2008 - Found New Hardware wizard with Windows Update support
- Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 - Automatic Windows Update installation
- Windows 8 - Modern installation with Setup.exe
tip
For the most reliable installation, always use the latest drivers from the Brainboxes website rather than relying solely on Windows Update.
After Installation
Once installation is complete, proceed to Product Configuration to:
- Find your assigned COM port numbers
- Configure port settings
- Set up RS-422/485 modes (for compatible devices)
